NOTES: My name is Vodka but my foster mom nicknamed me Sunny for my warm “sunshine” personality.  I’m a sweet lovable boy who was rescued by Houston SPCA and given to Husky Haven for rehabilitation.  I was severely abused, emaciated, neglected and suffered a horrible case of mange.  My fur has grown out and I get compliments all the time about my pretty coat.  I use to be really shy around people, especially around men but am learning to socialize and trust men.  I love women and children and will follow them around all the time.  I have grown very attached to my foster mom since day one but will love and get attached to my new mom, too.  I was about 30lbs when I came into Husky Haven and now I’m over 70lbs.  My foster mom calls me a gentle giant because I’m very friendly to other animals, small and large.  I play well with others, especially my foster siblings who are all Siberian Huskies.  I’m mostly Samoyed-mix with maybe a little Husky but can howl with the best of the Huskies.  When I first came into Husky Haven, I walked like a duck due to lack of nutrition, room to run and play since I was tied up on a short chain so I never properly developed the use of my legs.  Since then, I’ve had surgery to correct my walk by having my extra back toes removed.  I play and walk a lot better since then  although I will probably always walk a little penguin-toe.  My foster mom thinks its adorable.  I eat like there is no tomorrow but not at all possessive of food.  I also sit very pretty and patiently for my food too.  I’m a very laid back boy who loves to sleep-in in the mornings and will lay around on my bed while you get ready for work.  I also go to bed at a decent hour as I value my sleep.  I am use to a doggie door but I only go out to do my business and sometimes on occasion, will play chase with my Husky foster siblings.  They run too fast for me to keep up so I typically stay inside close to my foster mom.  I also  potty on command and am crate trained but also can be trusted out of the crate all day.  I don’t get into mischief but I do counter-surf for food every chance I get.  I love going for rides and walks and socializing at dog parks.  I am looking for a home where I will be loved and spoiled, and preferably a home with another fur-kid to keep me company during the day. I am very gentle with my food and eat slow and take treats gently from your hand. I am housetrained, I know how to use the doggy door, I LOVE long, daily walks or jogs. She weighs approximately 40 lbs., and should gain a few more pounds as she fills out.  She loves all dogs and people!  Lady is well-mannered in the house, non-destructive, housebroken, and crate-trained.  She goes to the back door when she wants to go outside.  She sleeps and eats in her crate.  She is a quiet husky and doesn’t bark or howl much.  Lady knows “sit” and “come” and walks nicely on a leash.  She takes treats extremely gently and doesn’t mind dressing up as a fairy princess or a bee for Halloween.  She rides well in the car and enjoys going to dog events such as Howl-o-wine and Woofstock.  Lady would probably be a good dog for a family with respectful children and with or without other dogs.  She is currently living with three large dogs.  She initiates games of chase with them in the backyard.  Lady needs a safe, enclosed yard with a secure fence.  She should be exercised regularly since, like most young huskies, she has quite a bit of energy.  She loves to play and run.  Lady isn’t interested in toys but does like to chew on rawhides.  She enjoys sitting at your feet and getting belly rubs and giving kisses.  Come meet this Lady-love-bug before it’s too late! NOTES: Cupid has arrived at Husky Haven!  Everything about this five year old, sable and white wooly is BIG. He weighs in at a big 75 lbs.  He has a big, wooly coat. He has a big, deep growl.  He is a big snuggler.  And he has a big personality.  What a character!  This boy will keep you laughing with his goofy antics. He sleeps through the night in his crate without making a sound.  He has nice house manners and would probably do fine loose in the house.  He has a low energy level compared to most huskies.  He obeys basic obedience commands such as “sit,” “down,” and “come” (most of the time).  Cupid gets along with other dogs and probably cats.  He is currently living peacefully with three male dogs his size.  He prefers the company of people to that of dogs and would thrive in a home with or without other canines.  Cupid would not do well in an apartment because he likes to “talk” loudly to you when happy or excited.  He needs a secure, six foot wooden fence.  He jumps indoor baby gates and could jump short fences.  Cupid can be mouthy when seeking attention.  His long coat requires regular grooming to stay free of mats.  Cupid must be placed in an inside home only. We want to thank you for letting us be a part of Cheyenne's life. We have grown to love her and count her as as special member of our family.

She did so well for several months with her attitude increasing and her love for life. She has been so special with her little habits such as looking into the curio cabinet with a mirror and looking at herself. We have grown to love her very deeply and were very concerned when she began to have problems. We contacted our vet and tried things like Rimadly. She seemed to improve initially and then seemed to fail overall. She became tired and weak. We did not want to see her in a bad time and were concerned when she cried in pain. We love her and did not want to do the wrong thing by keeping her alive when she was sick.

 We are so sorry and feeling like we are missing an important part of our family. She became more vital and active for several months and her end has been unexpected.

Our house feels so empty and we loved Cheyenne so much.  We can send you back her Softy and her collar if you want. We became so attached and she grew closer to us day by day. I'm sorry to send such a sad message- I wish it was a skunk! Love to the special dogs like Cheyenne! Bob and Lea Ann

Trina was pulled from the LaPorte shelter on 11/1/05. She is very scared. She was practically crawling when she came. She is Red /White. Probably about 3 years old. I took her for a walk this eve and she did pretty well. She looks mostly like a Siberian but there is a mix of something there. R/W Siberians have copper color noses and pigment around their mouth. Update 2/1/07 Hows it going? Just wanted to give you an update on the babies. We just moved into a beautiful house in Hockley, TX where Dakota and Coal now have their very own backyard. They LOVE it. This picture was taken  of them on the anniversery of us bringing home Dakota. ( jan. 14th) they were laying in my kitchen. I can't thank yall enough for grabbing these kids and sending them our way. they are truely a blessing to me and eric. and they just adore being together. we went to dog park and found out dakota must be part lab... we couldnt get her out of the pool coal wasnt too thrilled about the water but dakota dragged him in by the tail it was so funny she has to have her coal.  well thanks again.

I had to let them at kennel for 2 days as I had to go to California, vet people told me that they are the best dogs they ever got, they were together in a kennel.....looks like we got a winner...Buddy adores her and Danieele adores him brought them to bear branch park last week, Danielle is wonderful as she played with all type of dogs from a poodle to a great dane and had lots of fun. will bring them there again on saturday and sunday

I'm pushing 30lbs and I'm a pretty big puppy who will probably be a good size boy when I grow up.  I am now in a foster home learning house manners and playing with my brother Andrei and my big foster siblings who are also Siberian Huskies.  I am catching up fast on my socialization skills and gaining confidence. I'm very smart and learned my new name within a day and will respond and come when you call me.  I can also be very vocal and talk to you in my big dog voice.  I also learned how to use the doggie door very quickly but sometimes I need to be reminded to do my business outside.  I potty on command but don't need to go very often.  My foster mom says that I'm the sweetest boy because when she was giving me my bath, I laid down to let her rub my belly and also fell asleep while I got rubbed and lathered up with soap.  I am very submissive to humans but a little food possessive when my siblings come around. I keep busy by chewing on toys and knuckle bones and playing with my siblings. I was also told that I have a high prey drive and will try to play with cats. I am crate trained as long as the crate in the same room as my siblings.  Sometimes I will wake you up in the morning to  be let out to do my business but then I will go back in the crate without being told if it‚s too early. NOTES: I am a Rita rescue that was found at Nederland and 26th street in Port Arthur and sent to the SPCA. They kept me for the waiting period and then released me to Husky Haven. I am a sweet girl that gets along with other dogs, preferrably males. My foster parent says: She does do well on a leash, and running next to other dogs while jogging. She has also learned how to sit and shake (with and without food). She also doesn't get on furniture and or chew on anything other than her bones and toys. NOTES: Isabelle is a great girl who is house trained and crate trained. She is about 6 months old and has been raised around other dogs. We originally rescued her and her littermates from Town Lake Animal Shelter back in September. She plays well with other dogs and she is great with our 2 daughters (2 1?2 yrs and 8 mos). She is doing really well with obedience training, and knows sit, stay, come, and lay down (voice and hand command). She does like to eat ‘paper things’, so we have to make sure that the house is clean because she even will pull paper towels out of the trash and eat them! She likes to chew like any other puppy, but we have given her some nylabones and some other toys and have had no problems with her chewing on ‘our’ stuff. I think that she would do great with a family with kids, and she would do great with another playful pup or dog. Overall, Isabelle is a great dog and would make a great family pet! I am being fostered in Austin.

NOTES:Arwooo!!!  I'm Grace, a rambunctious, fun-loving, happy little girl! I love to play with big or small dogs and chew on toys and other things (although I am learning quickly I can't chew everything in sight like remotes, shoes, etc.)  I've been around a cat several times and, boy, do I like to chase him!  Cats are as small as me, and I just want to play!  If you have a cat, you would definitely need to work with me on what is and isn't acceptable behavior around the cat.  I love to run and jump, and my most favorite thing is to dig in my foster mom's old shrub pots and flower beds.  I am house-trained as long as you keep my water, food, and potty breaks on a strict schedule.  I still have an occasional accident, but it's usually because my foster parents forget I have to go out more often than my older foster siblings.  While I don't like going in the crate as that usually means I have to take a nap for a while, I am crate-trained and will sleep quietly through the night; but watch out for morning because I'm ready for my breakfast and playtime!  I've been learning how to walk on a leash as well as some basic commands like "sit", "stay" and "off".  I respond quickly to "no" and "eh eh" when I've been caught doing something I shouldn't.  I still need lots of training as I tend to get very excited and forget my manners once I see a treat or a new person!  I also like to talk to my humans, and they say I have the cutest "arwoo," especially when I'm trying to be all grown-up sounding like my big foster brothers.  I would love to meet you if you're ready for a cutie like me who still has a ways to go through the puppy stage and all that it entails, especially keeping up with the training!  But don't worry; I won't always be a puppy and with your help and love will grow up to be a gorgeous, well-behaved, lovely young lady! UPDATED 2/2/06: Grace is doing well.  I've been meaning to send you some pictures--- I will do that tonight when I get home.  She knows "shake" now.  We are still working with "lay down."  She definately knows when it is time to go!  You open the car door and she jumps in.  She's met a lot of friends at the apartment!!  I'll get back to you later tonight!

Hey Pat, its been several months since we took over care of April. Rachel and I just wanted you and the rest of the staff at Husky Haven to know that she has adjusted very well to her new home. She is very well mannered, unless you give her a sqeaky toy and then she goes nuts, and we have taught her some of the basic commands. She is nice and healthy and has'nt had any problems since we got her. Keep up the good work in gettingthese great dogs loving homes.

NOTES: She is a sweet girl that is being fostered in Austin. Her foster home says: Here is our Tink. We got her groomed yesterday, so she is finally ready for a picture. She is doing so well. She is eating great and is finally gaining some weight. She is potty trained (has not had one accident in the house), and is crate trained. She is so smart, she has already learned to sit and to shake. At fist she didn't know what a treat was, so she would just take it and put it on the ground, now when she hears the pantry door open she comes running. When we first got her home all she did was lay around and would barely even lift her head. Now she is running in the back yard and plays constantly with the other dogs. She is so sweet, and has started trusting us. We have a cat and Tink does great with her, they actually lay on the bed together. I don't know if she will be like that with all cats, or if she just really likes Moosie.
