Nov 14, 2007 update--

Wow. What luck. A nice family from Kingwood came to get me just to bring me to an adoption event downtown. I was on my best behavior and sat extra still during my bath and grooming session. While I did sit nicely during the adoption event and hoped for a forever home, my foster family fell instantly in love with me and decided to keep me!  I knew exactly what to do once I was let inside the new house---sniff the bed and JUMP on top and snuggle in! My new humans give me lots of love and are helping me train on how to be a good house-husky! It took me 2 weeks, but now I'm a good car rider. That's me above checking out the high prices at the local gas station.....I have 3 little humans who are always playing, giggling and petting me, and, I have a new husky-sister named Misha. She tells me what to do and I just follow along. Everyone was so surprised how well I “cleaned-up” after just a few grooming sessions on my wooly long coat. Mom calls me her Cinderella story.  Who is Cinderella? Did she come from Husky Haven? Love, Kobe   p.s. the little humans couldn't say Jobe, so my new name is now KOBE!

NOTES: Arwoo! Are you ready for someone to play with, a walking/running partner and one who loves give you tons and tons of doggie kisses?  Then look no further, I'm your girl!  I am a very vocal girl, especially when it's dinner time!  I do not do well in a crate; in fact, I escaped from 3 crates in the first week but I have shown my foster family that I'm very good outside of the crate while they're away.  I also love playing with my foster siblings as well as other dogs so I need to have a doggie sibling to play with as I would not be happy being an only fur-kid.  However, I'm not particularly fond of little human kids.  Also, my one other fault is that I have perfected the husky trait of "escape artist" so for my own good you must make sure that the fence is husky-proof (6ft or higher wooden fence, no chain link fences) and no doors are open too wide as I'm very sneaky.  If you can accept my one fault, but more importantly, you're ready for a fun, very sweet, easy to love/please girl, then come visit me as I'm waiting to meet you. Chad and I want to thank you for our wonderful new furry companion, BoJack.  We have wanted a husky for a very long time, and Husky Haven has made our dream come true. Your husky rescue program is a wonderful thing, and we're really happy we were able to adopt from a shelter with a great reputation for the care and treatment of there animals.
BoJack is adjusting nicely to his new home and loves the fact that he gets all our attention. His grumbles and howls are a welcomed change in our once quiet house. He's already learning commands, and I know he enjoys his new workout routine consisting of a mile long walk daily.
BoJack still has a lot of learning to do, but we enjoy the challenge of teaching him and being his pack leaders. We can't wait to get signed up for an obedience class and teach him lots of fancy tricks to impress our friends.  He also has learned "sit" and we are working on "stay, shake, speak and heal".
We eventually want to get a sled and a few more furry companions to start a small sled team. We will keep you posted on BoJack's progress and when the time comes to get another family member our first choice will be to adopt another incredible dog from Husky Haven.  Please keep us in mind if you come across any puppies that need a good home.
We took BoJack to get his rabies shot and heart worm test (which we just got back as negative) so now we can get his medicine and he is all up to date with his health care.   He also went to the groomer and got the full service treatment.
In September (from the 12th to 19th) we will be traveling back to Oregon for Chad's brothers' wedding and need to find someone to care for BoJack while we are away.  If you have any suggestions or if you think that one of your foster home's would be interested in having another house guest, we would be happy to offer $100 dollars and provide his food for the week (someone who is near us would be preferable). 
Please let me know one way or the other so that we can make other arrangements to board him if needed.  We would prefer that he is with people who know how to care for huskies and could use a little extra cash, but if no one is available we have found a place to board him (or if one of the fosters want to do it for "free" and we can donate the $100 to Husky Haven that would be great too).  Thanks again for saving BoJack and giving us the opportunity to give him a good home.  I hope to hear from you soon.

I’m Babee and I’ve been at Husky Haven for 18 months now.  I am an extra special Siberian Husky, that is looking for that extra special owner.  Someone that will go beyond the call of normal pet ownership.   I am still very shy when meeting new people, but warm up easily if you have a treat in your hand.   I get along with other dogs that don’t bark a lot.  I would prefer a very quiet home with no children or cats.   I like to cuddle and learn new things.  I was severely neglected for the first 3 years of my life so I will need someone that can deal with a shy girl that may never come out of her shell.  I feel safer when I am inside the house, especially in my crate where no one can hurt me.  The outside world has a lot of sites and sounds that are very scary to me.   My former owner had several Siberian Huskies and he made us pull a Volkswagen.  None of us liked pulling that VW and we became very afraid of our human owner.   The nice people at Husky Haven have been rehabilitating me and I am learning to trust humans again.  I really like my foster mom.  She calls me “Sweetie”.   Wow….I have never been called sweetie…that makes me feel great and confident.  I am gaining more confidence each day.  I am now able to sit by my foster mom and have her pet me and I really like the human contact.  I would really like to have a forever home for Christmas 2006.   Please adopt me…I will love you more than you can imagine. NOTES: June is a very sweet and pretty wooly!  She weighs just 43 lbs. but looks bigger because of her height and longer coat.  Her brown eye has a speck of blue in it.  June is reliably housebroken and crate-trained.  She is extremely calm and well-mannered.  She is non-destructive, does not get up on the furniture, and will not beg at the table.  She walks nicely on a leash without pulling.  June currently lives with three large male dogs and used to live with a large female.  June’s longer, wooly coat requires regular brushing, which she enjoys.  She also does well when having her toenails clipped and paws trimmed.  June’s ideal home would be a quiet household that would shower her with the attention and love she craves! Hi Everyone,
 
I wanted to let all of you know that Maya is doing great.  She has just melted into complete harmony with our family and with Cheyenne.
 
She has accomplished going up and down the stairs and just thinks that is great.  She has a large backyard which she can not get enough of and loves to run up and down the yard with Cheyenne.
 
By Saturday night Maya and Cheyenne were side by side on the couch.  Sunday morning she and Cheyenne were up on the large wooden swing with me (in the backyard) just enjoying the fresh air.
 
She is receiving kisses from Cheyenne and giving them in return.  Cheyenne is talking to her and making Maya a little more vocal.  It is so sweet.
 
Maya and Cheyenne are eating out of the same bowl, drinking out the same bowl and they are sharing toys and chew bones.  Cheyenne is being amazing by taking Maya under her wing.
 
She sleeps in bed with me and just curls up with my arms around her.  She loves hugs and I can not give her enough.
 
She has her tags and has an appointment with the vet for a check-up.
 
Not to worry...she will be loved, spoiled and taken care of forever.
 
Maya has a huge smile on her face and a sparkle in her eyes - a very successful story.

Leia was spayed and started her first heartworm treatment but she apparently had an immune reaction to the first HW treatment that she began bleeding. Update 1/20/09

The dogs and baby are doing great. Baby is in daycare now and the dogs are crated during the day :(. Justin had to start working in the office in December. We put the house up for sale, and when it sales I will stay home with the dogs and Amelia. We are looking to purchase a one story, easier to get around with the baby....and one day build a pool for old Rasko. He loves the water and is getting bored of the kiddie pool.

Rasko likes to take Amelia's pacifier and run around the house with it. He greets her every morning with a kiss and Amelia is starting to smile at him when he comes up to her. He tries to paw her to get petted, so I am constantly playing hockey goalie to protect Amelia from Raskos paws. Poor boy he does not realize he can hurt her. I know he means no harm, and he is getting better at it. He loves being a big brother to Amelia, always has a smile on his face when he is around her.

He gets protective of her when she is crying and someone else has her...he starts to bark until I grab the baby.

The dogs are learning how to play with baby toys so the four of us have play time everyday. Sasha and Rasko likes story time the best when they use their paws and noses hit the buttons to make sounds.

Update 9/6/08: 

We wanted to make the weekend special for the dogs. Unfortunately due to pregnancy complication we had to stay in town. Saturday morning at 6am Justin took the dogs for a run and I met them with water by the horse farm. Rasko loves horses so this was a good spot to meet.   Yesterday we took the dogs to the beach to go swimming. Rasko who loves to lay in the water sat down like usual but not familiar with waves, he got hit by a small one. He and Sasha played in the Gulf for a while. Justin and Rasko took off and spent time chasing the seagulls.

 This morning Rasko started to cry when he realized it was going to be boring day at home. Poor guy!

 We are thinking about moving to a different neighborhood where we can build a pool. We were going to put a special ledge partly in the water for Rasko to lay in. He loves the water and it is great exercise for him in the summer.

 This winter we are trying to convince one of our parents to come help out with the baby while we take the dogs to New Mexico to play in the snow again.

5 IVAN THE GREAT ***JAN 10***

NOTES: I am a huge boy that was turned in to the Montgomery County Animal Shelter by my owner. I WAS severely overweight, weighing in at 99 pounds. A couple of days after I was rescued by Husky Haven, a huge abscess burst on my elbow. The infection was very severe and had begun to affect my organs. The doctors thought they might have to amputate my leg. Pictures of my injury can be seen at HERE. I recovered from that and have since lost over 20 pounds. I am ready for my forever home. I need to be an only dog that lives inside the house. An adult couple with no children would be an ideal home for me. More Pics
